87 Year Old Friend Case Study

RL is an 87 year old male who was experiencing increasing numbness and tingling in his left arm and was unable to stand up from his chair. He came into the ED on 10.27 at an external hospital and received a CT scan, which presented a C4 mass. He was then transferred to DHMC on 10.28 for further management. Comorbidities involve Afib with bradycardia at baseline, HTN, arthritis, a recurrent parastomal hernia and a colostomy. RL also had a spinal mass 40 years ago that was removed. It is not clear if this mass was benign or cancerous. For background information on RL’s family and current social life, RL lives alone and does not have family close by. He has one friend who is a neighbor, who he interacts with every few days.
RL is currently NPO
