Introduction and Rationale The community in which I reside is a very rural setting. It has not ascribed to the marriage covenant movement per say, however, the state has mandated that all marriage license fees be reduced by $32.50 if the couple completes marriage counseling sessions of at least four hours. A general discussion will be held on the actual wedding ceremony which will help the pastor to begin to understand what the bride desires. The pastor will also encourage the bride to have a wedding planner (not necessarily a paid one) so there is one person who will be in charge and can make decisions for the bride during the day of the wedding. This should not be the bride or her mother! The couple will be given homework completing the Marital Needs Survey (See Appendix D) and the Your Role Concepts Comparison (See Appendix E) sheets which are to be completed and brought back for the next session. Week five of the pre-marital sessions will begin with a review of the Marital Needs Survey and the Your Role Concepts Comparison as well as a discussion on the results. The pastor will also discuss the 10 Important Emotional Needs (See Appendix F) with the couple. The homework for the couple will be to prepare a budget for income. This is to be completed by the next session. There are plenty of free online budgeting tools and a list of some will be available for the couple. Week six of the pre-marital sessions will begin with a discussion of the budget and budgeting process. There will also be a discussion on the topic of divorce and whether or not it is an option. The pastor will lead the couple in looking at some of the following Scriptures. Leviticus
