The requirement for high school graduation is 75 hours of community service. I am a strong believer of giving back to the community in any way possible, therefore I didn’t limit myself to the 75 hours needed for graduation. Instead I went above and beyond and completed not only the required 75 hours, but also an additional 100, recorded, hours. A community is built on many foundations. I believe the community is a strong contributor to where I am today and where I will be going. I truly believe that a community has a helping hand in raising a child, even though it may go unnoticed by individuals. For instance, I believe that my church family have played a vital part in my upbringing. They have assisted my parents in molding me into, what

, Ignacio Sanchez, a student at Glynn Academy do not agree with students to complete 100 hours of community service in order to Graduate high school. In the following paragraphs I will explain why I do not agree with policy. One and most critical is the amount of time that it consumes and takes up! Time is one thing that is very valuable no matter who you are. 100 hours is equivalent to almost 4 whole days it might not seem much but if you are a very busy person it will be extremely difficult to accomplish this task or even impossible depending on who you are.…

I strongly believe that requiring students to volunteer for community service in order to graduate does defeated the purpose of volunteering. The whole point of volunteering in a community is to make it a better place for people and to think of the lives of others and try to help them out but most importantly, to do these things willingly. If you are being forced to do something, most likely you will not enjoy it or do it with a positive attitude, these things can, and will affect how you do the task. On the topic of high school diploma requirements, I believe that on the standard diploma, there should be no community service requirement.…

High school students are burdened with the amount of credits that they have to complete in the short four years of high school that they have. The credits range from twenty credits to twenty-three credits. I feel that making each student finish one-hundred hours of community service in order to graduate is unfair. It also makes no sense because the average number of students that go to a high school are roughly four-hundred. That means that if every student has to do one-hundred hours of community service then eventually they are going to run out of things to get done.…

My high school has a requirement where students have to finish twenty hours of community service within four years. As defined by Webster Dictionary, community service is “a service that is performed for the benefit of the public or its institutions” and is synonyms with public service. An increasing number of high schools are requiring their students to fulfill a designated number of hours to the community in order to graduate. Many school districts believe that community service teaches students responsibility. High school students should be required to complete a designated number of community service hours, as community service participation can be used as leverage on a college application, allow students to build their network to learn more about scholarship opportunities, and assist students with developing their leadership skills. Admission into a college or university…

The business of life distracts not only the believer, but also the unbeliever. We are subliminally taught the value in ensuring that we are completing our daily task and living up to what we always wished to become. In all of our striving we inadvertently forget the basic concept of caring for others. Our own thoughts, work, social life overwhelms us to the point where we even forgot how to carry a simple conversation with people, let alone our heavenly father. This is the argument that I will emphasize as I discuss what community is and what our role is in the community as Christians.…
