1970s Fashion Fashion from the 70s was more about standing out and grabbing attention. Women were starting to become more independent, and they were dressing to show it. People were wanting to see differences in society. They were tired of how things used to be and started demanding changes. Fashion in the 70s was used to give people voices. The National Guard was called to try and put a stop to a protest at Kent University in Ohio. The Guard arrived wearing all of their gear, and fired shots into the crowd, killing four and injuring eleven. Martin Luther King Jr. was shot just before the 70s. Gail B.
