The first is the opening of the seven seals. The second is the blowing of the seven trumpets. Additionally, the third is the pouring out of the seven bowls of wrath.
1. List the (7) Trumpet Judgments - The events that occur when the trumpets are blown are supernatural, exclusively caused by God. The blowing of the final three Trumpets are more severe than the blowing of the first four, because these are labored “The Three Woes.” This is the first contingency we see of an intense warning given, as to the severity of the coming judgments. As bad as the previous judgments were, these next three are much worse.

Demonic Attack- the Fifth Trumpet – Rev. 9:1-11- When this Trumpet is sounded, it signals the first of the three “woes” that are pronounced. Rev. 8:13 “As I watched, I heard an eagle that was flying in midair call out in a loud voice: ‘Woe! Woe! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth, because of the trumpet blasts about to be sounded by the other three angels!” This event is a supernatural experience. (Rev. 9:1) “The fifth trumpet sounded by an angel, and I saw what appears a star, falling from the firmament to the earth. The star like object was given the key to the shaft of the Abyss.” However, verse two shows this star was an angel that received a key to unlock the bottomless pit. “When he opened the Abyss, smoke emerged from it as smoke from a gargantuan furnace. There were a large horde of demons and they all received a very special objective to execute. “And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power (Rev 9:3). Their victims were only the people who without God’s seal on their foreheads.” Remember that God placed His seal on the foreheads of all believers who were on the earth immediately upon the opening of the sixth seal. Demonic Attack- The Sixth Trumpet – Rev. 9:13-19 - At the blowing of the sixth trumpet, the second “woe” released. This set free the four bound angels who are at the great Euphrates River. Remember that there are angels in heaven. However, there are also fallen angels. The fallen angels are usually, called demons. The four that are bound are fallen angels or demons. (Rev. 9:15 (NIV): “And the four angels who had been prepared for this time were released to kill a third of mankind.” This means that now about one-half of those left after the rapture to succumb to the tragedy. (Rev. 9:16 (NIV): “The number of the mounted troops was two hundred million. I heard their number,” John uttered. This says that the number of troops that the four angels commanded was 200,000,000. These are not human troops, but rather demons led by demons. They are supernatural beings that have an uncanny effect on the earth and the inhabitants of the earth.
