The Psychodynamic perspective says that a person behaves the way they do because they have subconscious, driving forces that influence them. So, despite the presence of external substances, the way Cook and his friend acted could possibly be a manifestation of those unconscious motivations and desires. The act of them masturbating on the sidewalk could be interpreted as the expression of their sexual frustrations and, the act of behaving like gorillas could be interpreted as them trying to assert their dominance. Furthermore, maybe everything they’re doing, including taking substances into their bodies, is a call for attention and that want people to notice them or a cry to be cared for because, maybe they were neglected as children. Although my analysis of this theory rests solely on assumption, I believe that it accurately conveys what the Psychodynamic perspective is all about. Although I only discussed two of the seven modern perspectives on Psychology I believe they accurately show an example of the unique characteristics of each of them and flesh out the Biopsychological and Psychodynamic perspectives as well as demonstrating that these perspectives can relate to one another.
