7 People In Act 2

When it comes to people in the Bible being like Jesus. My mind immediately goes to one person. This man became like Jesus in such a short amount of time. This man’s name is Stephen, and this is his story. In acts 6:1-7, we see that the church is growing rapidly and an issue is brought to the attention of the Apostles that the food rations were not given out fairly. So the 12 Apostles got together and they gathered the people and said get seven people from among you, with good reputations, wisdom, and full of the spirit. We will train and teach them to do this work. For it is not desirable for us to leave the Word of God to serve the tables. So the people are happy and they chose the seven people and in verse 5 is says they chose Stephen, a …show more content…
In verse 5 it says Stephen a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit. In verse 8 it says Stephen a man full of faith and Power. Verse 5 says faith in the original Greek and verse 8 says full of Grace. The Apostle Luke wanted us to really capture the essence of Stephen so he used full of Grace the second time. So what does it mean when it says he is full of grace? Luke used the word grace in its pre Christian usage as charm or charisma. The Grace of the Lord had produced an identifiable grace, a charisma, about Stephen. Meaning when Stephen was around, people listened because the grace of God was in him in such a way they felt at home around him. We see the Stephen was so full of the grace of Jesus Christ that he as a deacon, was able to perform miracles like the …show more content…
He started at Abraham and finished at David. And in verse 51 he told them you stiff necked and uncircumcised in the heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you. You hear the Word but yet you do not follow it. The bible says that when they heard these things they were cut to the heart and they became angry. Stephen being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. So they dragged him out of the city to stone him. and the Bible says that Stephen said Lord Jesus receive my Spirit and he knelt down and said Lord, do not charge them with this sin and when he said that he fell asleep. Who does this sound like? This man did nothing wrong but perform miracles, and treated people with love. Stephen’s story sounds very familiar to that of Jesus. When Jesus died he still effected the lives of people, so did Stephen. In the midst of Stephen’s death a man name Saul was present. It is easy believe that a seed was planted that day, and a few chapters later Saul became the Apostle Paul. So, now when thinking of people who were most like Jesus. Stephen can now be moved towards the top of the

In Genesis 50:15-21, Joseph’s narrative reaches its climactic point with the clear picture of the fulfillment of the dream as traced back in Genesis 37. The dream motif in Joseph’s narrative is key as it provides a vehicle through which God’s purpose is revealed . It shows how God’s hand was behind the scenes pulling the strings causing the events in Joseph’s life with the intention that through him, His blessings upon the survival of Israel and many others is realized. This is brought out clearly in 50:20,“you meant it for evil (but) God meant it for good”. A clear demonstration that when evil confronts the purposes of God, it succumbs.…

The sixth reading in chapter one of our texts Pursuing Happiness, edited by Matthew Parfitt and Dawn Skorczewski, presents material translated from The Gospel of Matthew. I studied sources to find out more about this ancient text, and in the paragraphs below. I am going to talk about to whom the book of Matthew written to, who was Matthew as an apostle, and what he accomplished by his gospel. Matthew was one of the twelve apostles chosen by Jesus Christ himself and is the first Chapter in the Christianity bible, although those that stress Matthew’s alleged dependence on Mark for a substantial part of his gospel. Stephen in his speech in Acts told the abridged version of the Hebrew Bible. While doing so he decided to include and exclude different stories, as well as characters from the old testament as he so choose. I will try and explain here the reasons why he selected what he did, and also address the question of the order of the stories. Overall, I believe that which was included, was so for the reason of creating a different image of God as well as the stories of the Old Testament. Starting at the beginning of Stephen’s speech he address the story of Abraham.…

People have a tendency to exalt themselves above others. Pride is a dominate feature of what we tend to think of as modern cultures. This is no less the case in Harper Lee’s novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, people place themselves and others in social classes, almost always placing themselves at the top, unaffected by the fact that they might be on the bottom of someone else’s list. People have a tendency to blindly push other humans below them in a way that is unchristian, prideful and humbling to its object.…

Gordon’s purpose in writing The Master Plan of Evangelism was to examine the evangelism principles used by Jesus Christ (called “The Master” by Dr. Gordon in the book) during the days of His flesh. Dr. Coleman emphasizes the fact that his purpose was not to study and write about the methods used by Jesus but rather the principles which governed the methods. The Gospel accounts of Jesus’ evangelistic ministry are the single source used by Dr. Coleman in this volume. Jesus’ plan while He walked the earth was the focused mission of the salvation of the world.…

I believe that Jesus is the Messiah. The definition of savior according to the dictionary is a person who saves someone or something from danger, and who is regarded with the veneration of a religious figure. According to Luke Timothy Johnson, Jesus is the Messiah who the New Testament declares is the Son of God who came to this earth to suffer willingly and die for our sins. I am going to compare the description above with some other ideas about who many theologians think Jesus is.…

The names of the twelve disciples are: John, James, Peter, James the Lesser, Matthew, Andrew, Philip, Thomas, Bartholomew, Simon, Thaddeus, and Judas.
