7 Miracles Of Jesus Research Paper

This class has opened my eyes by reading the Bible. I am embarrassed to say that prior to this class I have never sat down and read the Bible. I have tried, but did not get very far. During Sunday Mass, I have heard excerpts of the Bible, however, I have never listened to a formal discussion on it or about it. I am somewhat familiar with the miracles that Jesus performed, but that is it. I was blown away by the lecture of D. A. Carson. His knowledge and ability to recite and bounce between the Old and New Testament and weaving in John’s gospel I found amazing. I would be sitting in the front row if I was one of his students. After listening to him I can only imagine how in depth his paper would be responding to this assignment.

5). If we were to be among the skeptics, we would have to say that all the stories of these miracles were made up and all those who say they were eyewitnesses, are lying. When Jesus performed His miracles, there were several, if not hundreds of people gathered around Him. Some were healed, feed, waters calmed, and people saved by Jesus. If it was one or two accounts and only a few people claiming these things happened, I am sure there would be much more doubt. The Bible reflects that “crowds” gathered. I would define crowds as hundreds or …show more content…
When the apostles heard Jesus claimed He was the Son of God there is little doubt they internally questioned His claim. As they followed Jesus as He performed His teaching and miracles and the vision that Jesus was God’s Son became clearer. At that point they must have thought this man could actually be God. Just when the apostles were beginning to figure out who this Man was and to totally believe in Him, He was crucified. The crucifixion of Jesus turned their belief into confusion. The disciples were frightened and did not fully understand what Jesus was telling them. Jesus predicted that He was going to die in a horrible way and rise back to life to be at His Father’s right hand. Any experience the apostles had with death was the end of a person’s life, they could not get their arms around the event of rising from the dead and what did it mean when Jesus said, “One had to die to live.” It did not make much sense. It was not until Jesus’ ascension and resurrection that got the disciples fully believing this was

Jealousy comes when one's focus is taken off God and put upon the world. Hebrews 13:4 states “but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.” God's Word also states in I Corinthians 3:17 “if any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy.” The purity of mankind should be maintained, therefore the jealous husband was to bring her before the priest who would carry out all the law. Devils love the destruction of relations between a man and his wife.…

What happened way before Jesus was put to death and what happened just before he was put to death, tie very closely into why he was killed. Like every other person who ever lived and died on this Earth, Jesus had a past, a family, and a birth place. The story of Jesus’ birth, according to the Bible, is quite humbling and is a bit like this: There was a young girl who lived in Nazareth named Mary. It never says her actual age in the Bible, but girls could get betrothed, which was like getting engaged but the father picks the man and they have to act like they're already married, as young as 12 back then, so it is estimated that she would have been around 12-16 at the time. She was betrothed to a carpenter named Joseph.…

Looking for eyewitness accounts form a cruel part of the history recording and not sure if it can be trusted. Many people who claim the Gospels are not based with eyewitness accounts which would be a seriously compromise to the historical credibility. As religion is one thing that most people have in common, but it is also one on the most definitive factors in what sets people apart. People have found comfort in religion since the beginning of time, so it is only logical to think that as long as people are practicing religion people are also arguing its validity in the same right.…

There is also a lot of speculation about Jesus’ appearance to 500 people after he was resurrected. Some ask “Where would this take place to fit so many people?” Matthew tells us it was on the countryside in Galilee. Within almost thirty years of the resurrection, Paul is talking about the 500 witnesses and says that ‘most of them are still alive, and if you don’t believe him you can ask them’ (McDowell). There is one more important reason that proves the resurrection did happen.…

The concepts that I think are relevant to me and my life the most would be from the Prison Letters of Paul, when Paul was in the Philippian prison. To many, they are attributed to supernatural entities, saints, and prophets, such as those found in Judeo-Christian scripture. From parting the Red Sea to turning water into wine, these mystical events have captured the attention of billions worldwide. However, miracles can also be viewed in a scientific sense and force us to reconsider our fundamental understanding of nature.…

What the early Christians made of the resurrection can be gathered from the letters of Paul, the Gospels, and the Acts of Apostles. It is quite a complex picture; did they believe that Jesus had undergone a spiritual or physical resurrection? The earliest sources that I could find about this is from the letters of Paul. His belief in the resurrection of Jesus is based on a vision of the risen Jesus on the road to Damascus. But the evangelists also report the story of the empty tomb, the discovery of the disappearance of the corpse of Jesus from his tomb on the third day after his crucifixion.…

Our course has been a journey of revelation of how and why we study the ancient of all texts, The Bible. There has been a focus to our inquiry, but it has not excluded other ways and means of study. Instead, it has incorporated them into an expanded experience to gain new depth of study. From the basics of a complete and careful exegesis, inclusion of epistemological insights, and using sound hermeneutics which bring discernment, we have been called to stand in the post-Pentecostal era using the Light of Spirit as the guide. This course has led us to glean ways to enter our study of Scripture by first acknowledging that the Bible is indeed God incarnate in written form.…
