Papa Bear decides to enter a race to show his wife Mama Bear that he is still in shape like he was when he was younger. But what he doesn’t know is that it is going to take a lot of work to get back in shape. This is a prime example of sharpening the saw because getting back in shape is being healthy, and being healthy is one of the building blocks of renewing your body, mind, and soul. Additionally, Sister and Brother Bear help Papa Bear get back into shape by encouraging him by running alongside of him. All of the Berenstain Bears go to the grocery store to buy healthy food that will able them to fuel their bodies, and get back in shape. The only problem is the Bears choices in healthy food. Instead of getting vegetables, Papa Bear and the cubs get junk food and soft drinks. Once Papa Bear takes responsibility and decides he needs to do what is right, he will be able to fully compete the three building blocks of sharpening the saw.
