7 Eric and Dylan Had Been Arrested Before
Huffingtonpost.com
In January 1998, one year before the massacre Eric and Dylan were charged with criminal mischief, trespassing, and theft for breaking into a locked van and stealing computers. Surprising they both made a good impression on the juvenile officers who oversaw their assigned classes and treatment. They were so well behaved that they were discharged from a program a few months early.
Harris wrote an apology letter to the owner of the van expressing regret but recorded his true feelings in his journal. On the 12th April 1998 he wrote "Isn’t America supposed to be the land of the free? how come, If im free, I cant deprive some **** from his possessions If he leaves them sitting in the

At the top of the list for most people was “How do we stop this happening again?” and this started a nationwide debate about school safety.
In the intervening years schools in America have changed drastically to try and prevent bullying and violence. There is now heightened security with metal detectors which students must pass through and strict dress codes to prevent them from concealing weapons on their bodies. Almost all schools now have a strict zero tolerance rule when it comes to infractions of the rules especially when weapons, drugs, or bullying is involved.
Schools now also have emergency plans in place and students and teachers are made aware of what they should do in such a situation by using practice

The answer to this question is yes. If someone had intervened and taken these boys seriously then maybe, just maybe, many lives could have been saved. But the reality is that didn’t happen.
The boys were angry, they felt frustrated and ostracized and they chose to act on those feelings in a senselessly violent way. But was that really the answer?
We all know Matt Stone and Trey Parker as the creators of Southpark but did you know that they were also from Colorado? In fact, Matt Stone also lived in Littleton and attended a high school about five minutes away from Columbine. When he was interviewed for the documentary Bowling For Columbine he spoke about his difficult high school experience but the difference is that he chose to channel his feelings into art not mass murder. And look where that took him.

There are many pros and cons to the “documentary,” but I don’t believe it’s a real documentary or a good form of activity journalism. Why is Bowling For Columbine not a real documentary? There are lies, omission of the other side, and strong exaggerations. We did discuss some of this in class with the example of the gun and the bank incident and the launching of satellites, but for this assignment I wanted to fins something we hadn’t yet talked about, There is a section of this film that is a cartoon, which I believe is meant to be satirical but it is clear he uses it because it fits his motive. It depicts gun maker Samuel Colt handing out Colt pistols to Southern slave owners despite the fact that Colts company (along…

The matter was prominent over a decade ago when the documentary was released and since then has only continued to increase. Many have questioned the honourability of Moore in producing the documentary, with accusations that he was capitalising on terrorism by taking advantage of the household name which Columbine possesses. It is apparent that the brutality of gun violence has been downplayed by portraying the exposition in a cynical, sarcastic tone in order to position the audience in favour of the filmmaker. Regardless of the marginal contribution the film has made in the endeavour to reduce gun violence, it remains incontestable that ‘Bowling for Columbine’ aligns with the conception that no text is…

What is known is the shooter had significant mental health issues that affected his ability to live a normal life, as well as the ability to interact with others. What contribution this made to the shooting, if any at all, is unknown because mental health professionals who saw him did not see anything that would have indicated this future behaviour. However, a teacher told investigators that “In all my years of experience, I have known (redacted) grade boys to talk about things like this, but Adam’s level of violence was disturbing.” The teacher added “Adam’s creative writing was so graphic that it could not be shared”. He was familiar with and had…

Is the Increase in Youth Violence Due to an Increase in Media Violence? Clarise E King Post University On April 20, 1999, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, both high school seniors, entered their school Columbine High dressed in matching trench coats and armed with two shotguns, one rifle, one semi-automatic weapon and a cache of explosives, with one intention, murder. Reportedly, the duos initial plan was to set off a propane tank which they had converted into a bomb, but when that plan failed the two went on a shooting spree. The pair walked around randomly choosing their victims; they killed over a dozen people and wounded almost two dozen others, before turning the guns on themselves and taking their own lives.…
