I was just reading an article about Mayo clinic reduces catheter associated UTI by implementing “6 C’s of CAUTI ”. These are series of intervention that when implemented together, are intended to achieve significantly better outcomes, than when implemented individually. This series are consisted of six elements: consider, connect, keep it clean, keep it closed, call, and culture.
According to the article, last 2013 UTI incidence dropped to 70% from the baseline of 2.0/1,000 catheter days to 0.6/1,000 catheter days in 2015.
