Modern day America has far surpassed any futuristic dreams our nation’s founding fathers could conjure. Does that mean we should change the premises of the laws put in place so long ago to secure this nation’s future? In 1791 James Madison, in response to expressed concerns from several states added to the growing amendment’s in the Bill of Rights to protect the United States from the potential abuse of governmental power (Bill Of Rights Instuitute , 2015). The second Amendment in the Bill of Rights states, “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed (Bill Of Rights Instuitute , 2015).”…

Guns are used all around the world, but here in the United States, we need to keep our gun usage limited with gun laws. Gun laws are put into action to make sure firearms are used responsibly; however, people will always find a way to break these laws no matter how many are made. Our Second Amendment, "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed”, gives U.S. citizens the right to own a weapon and use it for the right reasons. Gun laws will not reduce the amount of gun deaths in the U.S. because gun laws do not determine crime; gun ownership determines crime numbers. There were 460,000 gun deaths in the U.S. between 1999-2013 and this was the 12th leading cause of death.…

If, like me, you are fortunate enough to be able to hunt quality public land for whitetail deer throughout the Midwest and other areas throughout the country, you know the excitement and thrill that it can provide. I’m sure you are questioning my choice of words for the opening statement. I assure you I meant what I said. “Fortunate” and “public land” do not find themselves in the same sentence very often. Public land gets a bad rap, sometimes it is deserved and other times it certainly is not.…

In Miller’s “How to Be Stupid,” he exposes Channel One for all the manipulative tactics used to sell a product to its viewers. While Krakauer’s “Into the Wild” is a retelling of the story of a man named Chris McCandless that goes on a voyage to existentially discover himself and his meaning for living. McCandless had a difficult childhood, and had an outlook on life that many would not even fathom.…

As the standard infantry rifle of the Second World War, the Garand saw combat throughout theaters in Europe with the United States Army and especially in the Pacific with the United States Marine Corps. The major distinction of the M1 Garand series lay in the acceptance of the weapon system as the first self-loading rifle reaching operational status in the world. This occurred at a time when other national military forces were still relying on the tried and true, albeit slow-loading, bolt-action type rifles. The M1 Garand, however, was not only…

Deaner went on to say that on top of the type of weapon you’re trying to get shooting accurately, that we have to consider what the intended use of the weapon will be. Wendell stated that “Along with the action type the next question should be what is this rifle intended to do? A heavy-barreled varmint rig with a powerful scope should generally shoot anywhere from an inch down. A big-bore double intended to shoot elephants at close range is a viable rifle if both barrels will overlap at 4, 5, or even 6”. Elephants and Cape Buffalo have a huge kill zone compared to a Prairie Dog and are shot at much closer range.…

What Effect do Gun Modifications Have On Our Society Today? Have you ever wondered how gun modifications affect our society today? Did you know that you have the ability to legally make a semi-automatic rifle, perform and act like a automatic rifle by utilizing legal gun modifications? In most mass shooting cases today, shooters often utilize gun modifications such as bump stocks, single stage triggers, optic sights, muzzle breaks and quick extended magazine release clips, which are all legal modifications that can be made to any registered firearm. A profit margin is considered when determining consumer pricing with periodic markdowns leveraged to entice consumers into their stores and dealerships.
