6.1.4 Nursing positions
HL has motivated for the appointment of additional nurses for Medical ward. Approval was received for x1 staff nurse, x6 ENA’s. The advert has been distributed and interviews will start soon.
A Unit manager for Surgical ward was also approved and possible candidates were interviewed. There was a successful candidate, but an offer still needs to be made. Also as soon as a Unit manager has been appointed for Medical ward will Sr Grobbelaar be able to commence her duties as Risk manager. Sr Cassiem is currently working as medi nurse, once per week, assisting as Risk manager.

6.2 Theatre – BE
6.2.1 Cryos machine
A request was received from Pathcare to move the Cryos machine to CSSD. They did a frozen section the other

It was suggested that late add-ons, submitted 2-3 hrs prior to the procedure, be followed up by a phone call.

6.2.3 Scope washer
The problem with the scope washer has still not been resolved. BE suggested that the problem be escalated to head office, to deal directly with Johnsons and Johnsons.

BE also reported that she has sent a lot of stock back to Pharmacy, in order to decreasing the stock levels in theatre. BE also requested that CDL re-evaluate the stock levels of the Gore-tex sutures which will have an influence on the current costs.

7. Pharmacy – CDL & RS
7.1 Re-binning process
The re-binning of stock is progress in the wards and should be able to do cycle counts soon.
The pharmacy has done a stock count the previous day and has counted about 80% of the stock. The counts have also been captured and they are currently busy with investigations into the variances.
In theatre a suture and drug count was done and the variances will also be investigated.
The hospital stock controllers are currently at BPPH providing assistance and improving on processes. They also trained the wards in doing cycle counts. Currently a few system problems are being attended
