I have worked after care there as well as summer school programs. I attended the school since I was four years old and graduated in 2014. I have worked the summer camp since ____. I had attended these camps when I was younger, which has allowed me first hand experience with some of the policies and routines that are practically still in play at the school. The administration has been amazing about allowing me to take the lead and create new themes. Within the first year that I started, I was given the role of creating craft ideas, making the lists and finding the prices, and then going to buy them for the camp. Each year the responsibilities have increased and I have loved it more each year. This past year, the boss said that I could come up with whole weeks, which included me finding all the science projects, games for PE, art crafts, snacks they can make on their own, new tennis games, and new gardening facts since the children helped with the school garden. These activates needed to be able to be done by children in first grade through 5th grade. I also helped come up with field trips. All of this had to be done within the budgeted amount of money. I would also help brief the other counselors in the morning about the plans for the day and anything important that parents had said. One of my favorite experiences is when there is a new child in the day care and is super shy and will not speak, but by the end of the week is outgoing and confident. Also it makes me so happy when the children do not want to leave when their parents come to pick them up, or when I give the parents the itinerary for the week and their face brightens because they are excited that we are encouraging learning even in the summer while making it fun for the
