Essay One: Briefly describe an experience you had as a student (positive or negative). Explain how that experience has influenced your decision to enter the 5 Year MAT program and how you expect to use what you have learned from this experience in your own future classroom.
Ever since I was young I have wanted to be a teacher. I would set up my dolls, and anyone else who I could manage to rope into sitting for me, and teaching them whatever I was learning at the time. This shocked some people because school was not always my strong suit and I definitly struggled with reading and spelling. However, each year I was blessed with at least one teacher who took me under his/her wing by teaching me as well as modeling a life that was enriched by education

I have worked after care there as well as summer school programs. I attended the school since I was four years old and graduated in 2014. I have worked the summer camp since ____. I had attended these camps when I was younger, which has allowed me first hand experience with some of the policies and routines that are practically still in play at the school. The administration has been amazing about allowing me to take the lead and create new themes. Within the first year that I started, I was given the role of creating craft ideas, making the lists and finding the prices, and then going to buy them for the camp. Each year the responsibilities have increased and I have loved it more each year. This past year, the boss said that I could come up with whole weeks, which included me finding all the science projects, games for PE, art crafts, snacks they can make on their own, new tennis games, and new gardening facts since the children helped with the school garden. These activates needed to be able to be done by children in first grade through 5th grade. I also helped come up with field trips. All of this had to be done within the budgeted amount of money. I would also help brief the other counselors in the morning about the plans for the day and anything important that parents had said. Then I would also work as a counselor which was amazing because I could really interact with the children and see how they did with the activates. One of my favorite experiences is when there is a new child in the day care and is super shy and will not speak, but by the end of the week is outgoing and confident. Also it makes me so happy when the children do not want to leave when their parents come to pick them up, or when I give the parents the itinerary for the week and their face brightens because they are excited that we are encouraging learning even in the summer while making it fun for the

Moderately educated and both of them as dedicated teachers in the camp-based schools, knew and believed that a good education was our only hope to a better future. So, every day was a new challenge for me to do well and learn something new.…

Then after a semester in public school then went to my honors and AP classes I felt more familiar with the teaching way. They got more into detail and were challenged again like I was in private school. Overall there is a big difference in our educational system depending on the place you go and who teaches there. Basing that off the teacher who had my senior year for AP English because she could have taught at a better school and would be very successful I enjoyed everything that she taught me and was able to apply a lot of her techniques till now. Then there were teachers in my private school that I wondered how the hell these people got this job and then I think Armenian… Connections.…

Education has always been a part of my life. Long before my first day of kindergarten, my family’s love of learning has heavily influenced me. My maternal grandfather told me stories of people in places long ago with the same excitement and joy when I was five as he did when I was fifteen. I savor every moment I spend in my Uncle’s living room, their cozy furniture and reading lamps a mere practicality, while the books lining every shelf stole the spotlight. At nearly every stage in my elementary schooling, my mom inspired me to persevere and fought alongside me.…

However, one of the hardest thing I have experienced on writing these three essay was that organizing ideas in orderly fashion, and transitioning between ideas, because often times I found out that the previous argument was either off track or requires little more tweaks to be able to transition to the next paragraph. Another thing I am proud of throughout all my papers is how much more I evaluated the suggestions given to me by my peers and instructor during this class. This is an area that I had never really taken advantage of before. Without this I do not think I would have understood academic writing as well as I now do. Seeing…
