5 Step Writing Process

The writing process was another big take away from the class because it reminded me that there is a process in writing a paper. Students need to know that the first product they write will not be perfect because writing involves a process which includes brainstorming, drafts, revising, and sharing/publishing. The benefit for students is that they have the opportunity to write and teachers will be able to work with a small group and individuals who need more help. The video what writers do:a 5 step writing process is, gave me a good idea on how to teach younger students like kindergarten and first grade to write a good story that matches their drawings. Knowing the writing process is important because you will be teach students all of the steps

In regards to my writing process, there have been some central strategies that I have developed over time and some strategies that I have had for as long as I can remember. For example, one skill that I have developed from high school has been to annotate, mark up, and take notes throughout my readings. I found that taking notes really helps me, not only to remember what I read but to go back and be able to point out something in my reading easily. In addition, it helped me understand the readings better.…

Artist Statement At the start of the semester, entering English 416, I felt very nervous and unworthy of being in the class. I was intimidated by great writers who wrote so easily and who I don’t doubt will be published authors someday. This course was my first upper level English class and I felt unqualified as the class felt like a whole different ballgame…

Literacy Narrative I did a lot of writing while I was in the tenth grade. The English teacher I had at the time was the best when it came down to writing. I did not have too much interest in writing at the time but Mrs. Perez changed that, she gave me a new perception on writing and how it can change society. Mrs. Perez would always recommend really good books, one of which was a book called “His Dark Materials”. This story is about a young girl and her allies, fight for the discover of a dark substance called the “Dust”.…

Surviving English Comp 1 Writing Class Writing is one thing I hate the most. It was hard to write an essay for the first time because I did not have the knowledge or concept of this writing style. Before this class, I thought I knew what writing was all about by expressing my thoughts, ideas and feeling. I know now that I had the wrong concept on how to write. I can express my thoughts, ideas and feeling, but if I put them in the wrong contents it does not lead the reader to the point of the essay.…

My writing process coming into junior year was quite flawed and would go moderately like this: I would try and start with some hook that at least sounded like it related to the topic I was assigned. I then added a thesis that did not sound like total trash that included exactly what I planned to discuss. As I wrote the rest of my essays, I would sometimes realize there was something I felt added to the argument’s appeal, and after adding it to the body paragraphs, I summed it up in a couple words and squeezed it into my thesis. That was about the maximum amount of revising I would do for my essays. My decently crafted essays contained simple diction with a few SAT words I remembered while writing thrown in awkwardly.…

As a senior at TCPS, I am currently taking my second dual-enrollment college course, comp one. Before this college level writing course, I thought I had the skill of writing papers mastered. Throughout grade school, writing a paper in a few hours was easily achievable and was the general thing to do. My peers and I easily wrote papers without effort and made good grades. Therefore, when I started my first college writing course, I thought this was the thing to do.…

I would say I have a neutral opinion on English classes. Some days I like them, and some days I dread the time when I have to go home and write another really long essay. My writing process has always been about the same from year to year because I tend to do very well on most of them. I have really enjoyed reading books and plays in class, and I hope we can do that in the future.…

I have loved to write since I can remember chewing on my first pencil eraser. I started with scribbles, and then random words. Later on, however, I was required to write persuasive arguments and academic jibber jabber. Writing these papers, I began with a claim or argument in mind I intended to convince my readers was true. Not wanting to waste much time, I started by writing down my main idea and then searching for relevant stuff to fill the paper with the required number of words.…

At the beginning of the semester, I viewed myself as a creative writer. After attending this class I realized that there is a lot more that goes into writing an essay, or a research paper, than just creativity alone. I have learned that it is very important to be aware of my strengths and weaknesses in my writing. Taking this class has helped me understand the strengths and weaknesses in my writing skills, and it has given me the opportunity to strengthen the areas in which I was weak. An example of this is that I have become aware of my grammar and spelling errors as the semester progressed.…

My ideal grade level for teaching would be first grade. In first grade, students are still learning the basics of reading and writing. I believe in first grade is a big transition from kindergarten because students begin to read fluently and comprehend what they are reading. I believe the big goals in first grade are to read simple stories and write about a topic that that means a lot to them. Teachers can do this by using different teaching strategies throughout the school year, with centers being one.…
