Most people think running a 5 minute mile is just impossible and I thought that to until I broke that barrier. People think that gender plays a huge factor in running a time like this but honestly I have seen lots of girls run this time, actually I have seen girls run well below this time. There are three main keys on how to run a 5 minute mile. Hydration is the biggest key on running this time. Another big key is conditioning, obviously if you don’t practice and you’re not in shape then running a time like this will be next to impossible. The last big factor that even I have yet to master is mindset.

The equation is different for males and females, for males the calculation is (bodyweight multiplied by .35). For females the calculation is (bodyweight multiplied by .31). After you get what that number is from the calculation that is the amount you should be drinking in ounces. Hydration is important because your body averages around 57-60 percent water, therefore your body depends on water to survive. Your body uses water in all of it’s cells, tissues, and organs to maintain bodily functions. My coach tells me nonstop to drink as much water as I can, she basically tells me that there is no overhydration. …show more content…
Conditioning is extremely important because if you don’t condition then you can’t run the time that you truly want. My conditioning for running a fast time is normally on day one I will run a long run anywhere from 5-10 miles. Day two I will run a speed workout which is like a 1200 meter, 800 meter, 600 meter, 400 meter and then 200 meter. the third day I will normally do a one mile time trial. The fourth day I will do 200 meter repeats normally about twelve of them. The last day of the week I will normally do a pool
