5 Minute Micro Reflection Paper

5 Minute Micro-Teach The purpose of this assignment was to pick a topic to present to the class for a total of 5 minutes. The topic I chose to present on November 10, 2016 was Platelet Rich Plasma. This paper will serve as my opinion for what I need to work on in the future. I will incorporate opinions from classmates, Dr. Ortega, as well as my own personal opinion. During the presentation, I did notice that my voice, volume, and rate of my voice seemed to be okay. Unfortunately I looked at the computer screen much more than I had hoped that I needed to. I practiced enough to not need to look at it, but when the time came to actually present, I felt more comfortable looking at the words I needed to say as opposed to thinking about it myself. There were points when I was talking and looking at the PowerPoint at the same time also. It was hard to use the laser pointer and talk to the audience …show more content…
In future presentations I plan to restate questions that people ask me so others can here the question followed by the answer. Some of my answers were not worded well. I could have worded them better because I had more information than I utilized at the present time. In the future I need to actually think about the questions asked before answering, instead of just stating the first solution that comes to my head. Lastly, the outline points which were in the presentation, could have been stronger. Unfortunately they were just a little bland. Overall, I think that my presentation went well. There are a few things I hope to utilize in the future that I left out this time. Sometimes I need to just slow down and think about what I am trying to say and how to put my thoughts together into well thought out sentences. I have learned some points from this assignment that will help me to become a better presenter in the

After presenting and completing my visual informative speech, there were several strengths and weaknesses present throughout my speech. Some of my strengths, with respect to the content of the speech as I did my visual presentation, was that I did a good job with the introduction. The introduction involved introducing my topic and grabbing the attention of my audience. Also, I had great supporting materials and most importantly great organization of my main points. As for the delivery aspect of my speech, according to the video, I had a good posture and used my flash cards very well, which were very helpful in delivering my speech.…

The piece of information I read in Slideology was quite insightful. Chapters 2 and 5 are very crucial for anyone preparing a presentation. It's all about the creative process. Using what I learned from the Slideology chapters, I'm going to work a little harder and finding a more creative way to present my idea. Everyone is always afraid of criticism.…

I definitely have to change quite a few things to make my performance at least good if not the best in future. Among them, one thing I definitely need to change is “practice” giving a fair amount of time to develop a good memory until it reaches the point of perfectness while presenting or delivering. “Practice makes man perfect”-universal quote triggered into my attention now. I believed I had fairly good voice tone/volume, my non-verbal communication like gestures, body language, and eye contact wasn't bad. Similarly, I used a word fillers approach to cease fast flow of speech delivery to adjust with audiences’ conceiving capacity/ability and keep up the connection.…

After watching my speech on video I recognized several things that beforehand I believed I had done well, and upon watching the speech, did do very well. Firstly was my organization, but mainly my introduction and main points. Both of these had all aspects covered and were easy to notice during the speech. Secondly I thought I did very well with my volume, rate, and vocal variety. These verbal delivery attributes came off very well in my speech and I was very happy to see that I could still execute these aspects.…

The famous scientist Ernest Rutherford, better known as the father of nuclear physics, once said that it should be possible to explain the laws of physics to a barmaid. In the book “When the Scientist Presents”, Jean-luc Lebrun answers how to do that by taking us through the journey of Dr. Vladimir Toldoff, a fictional not so good presenter and in the process by providing valuable insights on how to make a memorable, analytical but engaging scientific presentation. The book focusses on the four major components of a good presentation – content selection, audience expectation, slide design and the presenter - and devotes significant discussion time on each of these.…

How would you change your presentation to improve it for next time? (3 marks) I believe that our presentation was presented very well, although we could have done much better if there was more time. I believe that the best part of our presentation would be the statics and the really life incidents that occurred in our city to prove that having this curfew could protect the safety and the education of many students. I would change this presentation to fit the time limit since I did not get to say everything that I had prepared.…

While presenting my groups Rad Town presentation, I saw plenty things that we did well and things we could have improved on or changed. All in all I feel that we had a well rounded presentation. During Dallas’ portion, I think he was a little to loquacious for the good of our project. We could have done a better job helping him explain some of the bigger words and objects that he mentioned. We also could have helped him round up some of his points.…

I wanted to speak louder and clearer, but it was hard for me because I was very sick and losing my voice. That did not help me unfortunately, but I still tried as hard as I could to make myself speak louder. During this speech I was also able to control my nerves a little better than the first time. I was less nervous this time than I have ever been publicly speaking in my life. I felt a little shaky, but I didn’t have any pins and needles or numbness in my face, which I am very proud of.…

Up during my speech specificly the last one, i felt super nervous, but looking back i appeared confident and great body gestures. The one thing that doesn 't surprise me is that in all my speeches i managed to have a great tone of voice and enthusiasm. Personally my strongest performance had to be the persuasive speech, after looking at it i noticed i looked the most confident, my content, my structure, and my transitions were spot on. My weekest performance however was my first speech, i looked so nervous, i had very little content, i was not into the speech, no transitions, and like i said i learned a lot from this…

That really disappointed me that I was unable to involve the students during my lecture. Few of the junior students also felt that I should have reviewed the topic material in a clear and concise manner (approximately 87%). Due to lack of time I did rush through my content and wanted to cover all my slides. After receiving the student evaluation form I was surprised that almost 45 students out of 75 were pleased with my presentation. This really surprised me, because more than half of the class was happy with my session.…
