With a 45-degree shot arc you can control your shot depth well and you have a wide target, while 50 degrees make the target a lot bigger but controlling your shot depth suddenly becomes much harder.(6) Also the Apparent Hoop Size (AH Size), which shows how big the hoop is for the ball to enter at the specific shot arc, is 3.0 inches on a 45 degrees shot which is second to only a 55-degree shot with 5.0 inches, but the 55-degree shot has barely any shot depth control.(6,10) Even though a 45-degree shot is said to be the best shot arc by many, a few believe that a shot arc from 55-60 degrees is better.
