4.3.1 Homestay in Australia
The term homestay is merely a word that is used to describe the age-old concept of travelling residing with a family other than their own. The purpose of homestay is to provide authentic learning experience for international students that come to Australia under educational programs. The students will get the chance to learn about Australian culture from the inside. Also, staying with Australian host family can help the students to get used to the Australian Culture, economics and way of life. It is suitable for students under the age of eighteen, who require the supervision of adult. It is similar with the MOTAC approach as mentioned in Chapter Two. The purpose of Homestay is for the foreigner to experience and learn about our culture by residing in houses located in the rural area with a host family. However, Australian concept for Homestay is more on providing home for international students that come to their country. …show more content…
