3D1X2 is a big career field and split up into many shops. Because of this we rely on each other to accomplish the mission. However! Some of us are trained in many aspect of this career field and although we know how to perform the mission of the other shops and volunteer to do so in order to make the communication squadron more efficient we are told to stand down.
Me being prior Network Integration and 1 of 2 military part of the BITI upgrade that installed/updated all 370 networks on base in 7 months. I learned the ins and outs of the new equipment and was ready to teach it to all the others in the shop to be more effective. And that I was willing to act as a network liaison for Voice Control to fix the system at hand and provide better customer satisfaction. I have been told that to stand down and that I will not be granted network access to better access the communication squadron because I need to learn my job at hand. I feel as though I have gone above and beyond learning my job. I have read the DISACS. I have read over 1000 pages of DWDM. I have trained those in the shop who have been here for a way longer period of time. I have acquired free outside training for our shop to be more productive. I have given follow up training. I have helped build the plan for future enhancements. I have done this in a short five weeks. I do believe I have done what I can to learn my job at hand. Although I will agree there is still so much for me to learn I do believe I am willing to take on more. I was then told that it was the job of network integration. I now ask, "isn't the 633 Communication Squadron bigger than just one single network shop? Does the mission not come first?" I don't understand why we decide to shoot ourselves in the foot obsessing over chalk lines and processes. I feel as though the customer, product, and mission comes
