Although there is a system where students can file complaints, many have complained but nothing has been done to improve student transportation. Students receive almost weekly emails from UAPD describing new suspects of crimes which occur late at night as the victim is walking alone. How is that not a red flag to the university that maybe there needs to be another option if these drivers are unable to be reliable? If these issues with 348-RIDE were fixed, the crime rate on campus would likely decrease. Vans sometimes take up to 30 minutes or they may not even show up at all! There have been rumors that Uber will be coming back to Tuscaloosa in the next year and students are beyond excited. A student at The University of Alabama stated “I don’t really go out much, but if there was a situation where I couldn’t drive or get to my car, I think I’d trust Uber over University transportation services.” Although it is expected for an adult to have
