Reflection On Why Hannah Committed Suicide

The book was an eye opener for me. I couldn’t imagine how much words can disturb a person. Sometimes people say things without even bearing in mind the seriousness of the words. It is like there are any limitations, people just want to say things. People do not want to validate the feelings of the other person. The book remind me about a collectivist and individualist society. We are in an individualistic society where everyone is on his own.
I am not sure if there the thirteen reasons for Hannah to commit suicide. I can discuss thirteen instances that Hannah committed suicide. The motives that I was able to recognize while reading this interesting book are the following.
The first reason was the joke in the first Cassette “Freshman Class-Who’s Hot/who’s not”. At the beginning I thought it was a childish joke, something that I may not like

Sadly, people most of the times think that sexual abuse is just the violence and the sexual portion. Sexual abuse can be as simple as a comment, inappropriate touching or body language. People is not aware any longer of how much they can harm by acting inappropriately. There is sexual abuse in different parts of the book. The case of “Peeping Tom”. The case of Bryce abusing a girl that was under the influence of alcohol. This particular girl was not even able to stand on her own. According to the American Psychology Association Sexual abuse is defined as “unwanted sexual activity, with perpetrators using force, making threats or taking advantage of victims not able to give consent. Most victims and perpetrators know each other. Immediate reactions to sexual abuse include shock, fear or disbelief. Long-term symptoms include anxiety, fear or post-traumatic stress disorder. While efforts to treat sex offenders remain unpromising, psychological interventions for survivors — especially group therapy — appears effective.”(American Psychology

Over the years I’ve read so many books, and a lot of them I would consider them as my favorite book. But the book I’m infatuated with is Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson. Speak is such an amazing book because of the way it was written, the suspense, and the book brings awareness to others, especially to young girls about her situation. One reason I absolutely adore this book is, because of the way Laurie Halse Anderson wrote the story.…

In class we read three books of poems that couldn 't be more different. They each have different styles of poetry and I got different imagery from each one. The first one by Donald Hall I thought was the easiest to read. It was like a book of short stories about his wife who eventually dies. Reading the poems in the book you can feel his emotions through his words and the imagery was like I was there suffering with him.…

My overall opinion of To Kill a Mockingbird is that it is a great book with a great main theme of equality. I enjoyed it especially from Scout’s point of view when I thought I wouldn’t enjoy it at all and I especially enjoyed the irony of the recluse (Boo Radley) being a better citizen than Bob Ewell. The character development of Scout and Jem also made me enjoy the book due to how Harper Lee made it so clear and concise to show that Scout and Jem were growing up from the innocent children at the beginning of the book to more adult-like children/pre-teens. I think I most enjoyed the fact that Boo Radley was the “mockingbird” leaving gifts in the tree and how Boo saved Scout and Jem from Bob Ewell.…

This dystopian life is controlled by the ignorance of the people and the censorship from the government. Owning books and reading are against the law and the people are drugged into compliance through sleeping pills. In the novel Fahrenheit 451 the author Ray Bradbury portrays the idea that ignorance and lack of knowledge can lead to a corrupt incompetent society; this becomes clear to readers when Montag is criticized and eventually persecuted for speaking out.…

The Little Prisoner by Jane Elliott This book was a powerful if not over powering story of a child whose step father abused her on every level of abuse; physical, mental, sexual, and emotional. The author of this book Jane, a pseudonym for the actual child, made the book come full circle. It started in the court room and was brought back to that pivotal moment when she is forced to face her attacker as an adult. It shows the reader the reaction of someone who clearly has no understanding the effects the child abuse Jane endured because the officer treated her like she was overreacting.…
