National Junior Honor Society is a great opportunity for me! I have been dreaming to be in this society ever since the end of fifth grade. I would love to be involved in NJHS and share my suggestions and listen to other people’s ideas. I am very passionate to help those in need. For an example, I have donated many foods, clothing, utensils, and more to Vietnam and to the victims of Hurricane Harvey.…
National Junior Honor Society is a great opportunity for me, and is an organization that I really hope to be in. I love doing service not because I am forced to, but I get to be with my friends and is also a way for me to give back to the community. I love helping the needy and have participated in countless activities. For example, I was a part of a group that put together care kits for the homeless, picked up trash at a park, and created blankets for the needy. Being in NJHS will give me a chance to find even more ways to do more service and become a leader.…
Throughout my life I have always tried to be the best person I could possibly become. From having perfect grades to being any sports team MVP. I have grown up with the phrase, “The harder you work, the better you do,” engraved into my head. My dad told me this after school, after sports, and after I finish anything i did. I work hard for my grades and that has ended me here.…
Dare, A Regretful Education Have you ever wondered how the D.A.R.E. program worked in the United States? Well I can tell you this, if an officer that is involved with the D.A.R.E. program is trying to show you the impact of a substance, then why do you see them doing that same substance while off duty? They are either smoking a cigarette or guzzling booze until they are downright wasted, if this is the kind of inspiration that helps you stay away from substances, well it’d work better than what you’re learning from D.A.R.E. A multitude of people believe the D.A.R.E. program should be replaced with a different program that provides a new/better way to fight substance abuse, others believe D.A.R.E. should be able to help in the education…

This world is full of challenges, some may call them just bumps in the road and some in the moment. Call it the end of the world, but no matter what you call it big or small it is up to you whether you chose to embrace and learn from what you have been thru or are going through and whether you chose to let it control you there is only one true definition and according to the google dictionary a challenge is a call to take part in a contest or competition, especially a dual it is an objection or query as to the truth of something, often with an implicit demand for proof. In my personal perspective the perfect synonyms to a challenge are a test, a stand, and a confrontation. I remember back when I was around seven or eight years old and I began…
Before immersing myself as a student in the world of sleep, I had always believed that I had a great sleeping pattern. In fact, all of my peers found it amusing how much I loved to sleep, to the point where they said I slept all the time. However, the way that I see it is that I am a 20 year old who goes to a tough school academically, plays a 24/7 sport of basketball for the University, works on campus, and finds time to be social. As one should realize, I am a busy man on a rigorous schedule, therefore, in order to not just get by, but instead to be an achiever, I need my sleep. So before taking all of these tests and monitoring my sleeping pattern, I knew that every night I usually got over 8 hours of sleep depending on what day it is was.…
The problem I am hoping to solve is that I don't do my homework when I get home from school. This is a problem because I take higher level classes that require work outside of the classroom. My initial measurable behavior change goal was “The one health behavior that I want to work on for the remainder of the semester is my physical activity, I have always wanted to be a runner and complete a marathon. I am a pretty active person in my everyday life and I do walk on my treadmill every morning, but I really want to get my heart rate up and burn some calories. I do notice that I am very tired in the mornings and I have read a number of research articles that show performing an activity like jogging or running first thing in the morning helps with energy and ramps up your metabolism. Since I am so tired in the morning I do drink coffee and drinking more coffee lead to more sugar in my diet, which is something that I am really…

You Should Exercise Everyday For the longest time now there 's been a stigma around working out and exercising every day. It seems as if our society has turned exercise from something that may be critical to your body, to something that almost everyone dreads. When people hear exercise they seem to equate it to a number on a scale that must go down. An overweight person these days might see it as something that is for skinny people and skinny people may see it as something for overweight people. Our society has made it so that exercise is equated with one 's size and one 's number on the scale.…
