A 3 week long block of instruction teaching the fundamentals of team cohesion, mental and physical fortitude and the techniques involved in jumping and parachuting from airplanes while landing safely. Airborne school consists of three phases ground phase, tower phase, and jump phase, one phase per week. Ground phase covers the Parachute Landing Fall (PLF) culminating into the Lateral Drift Assembly to simulate movement across the Drop Zone (DZ). Tower Phase covers jumping from a 34 foot tower ensure proper exiting technique culminating in the 200 foot tower drop simulating an actual PLF. Jump week covers the students 5 non-assisted jumps from a high performance air craft, ultimately leading to the soldier's graduation.
