3: 10 To Yuma Dan Evans: A True Hero

A hero is a single drop of sun on the cloudiest of days. Heroes are strong, courageous, and caring. Most importantly, a hero is not born, but made. In 3:10 to Yuma Dan Evans protects the ones he loves most at any cost; that is what a true hero is. When we first meet Dan he seems to be cowardice. This is shown when some bankers come in the middle of the night to burn down his barn. The only person who was willing to do anything about it was his fourteen-year-old son William. William is rude to his father when Dan refuses to shoot, or go after the bankers. Even then Dan decides to wait until morning before he goes to town to speak to the bankers in person; he decides to grovel with the bankers for more time. Before he goes to meet with them Dan enlists his sons William and Mark to help him round up their lost cattle. …show more content…
Wade is a notorious outlaw who is best known for stealing from the Pinkertons. He notices Dan and the boys and asks for their horses. Dan then hands the horses over, and does not put up any type of fight. However, he does try and keep both William and Mark behind him and safe from Ben Wade. Dan eventually comes across his horses and cattle, but he also finds a man shot by Charlie Prince, Wade’s right hand man, and decides to help him by taking him back to Bisbee. When they get back to Bisbee Dan hears that they are willing to pay anyone who will help catch Ben Wade. Desperate for cash to pay off the bankers Dan
