22 Jump Street Satire

2012 was a year filled with excitement and creativity when it came to film making. The notable cop-based drama TV series “21 Jump Street” took a turn to the big screen, and along came all its previous fans to support it. Admirers of the movies were adrenalized with the comedic remake and demanded a sequel, which the creators we’re not hesitant in making “22 Jump Street”. 21 Jump Street” being the action-filled comedy movie it is, was bound to be a success, while “22 Jump Street” dominated the charts and surpassed its predecessor. Despite the fact “21” and “22 Jump Street” are both humorous-action movies,”22” does a better job at entertaining the audience with the abundant types of comedy. Ironic scenes in “22” are used as a “wow” factor. The scene in “22” where the spiteful captain arrives at MC State University, and sees his daughter is dating his employee, Schmidt, leaves the crowd in awe. This scene is especially funny, mainly because the captain is so rude towards Schmidt, and degrades him every chance he gets. This in a way, empowers Schmidt and leaves the crowd satisfied since Schmidt is a well-known introvert. Whereas in “21 Jump Street” the two protagonists are faced …show more content…
Schmidts witty responses against Jenko were used in an act of jealousy since Jenko was growing close to the enemy. The audience witnesses Jenkos growing bond with the football star antagonist, knowing Jenko couldn’t achieve his dream of being a college football star. Schmidt also being the more intelligent one in the group, was also able to provide stronger sarcasm. However, in “21 Jump Street” Jenko is the one using his rebuttals against Schmidts for his growing bond with the antagonist. Schmidt never having the chance to be “cool” in high school, led to him being drifted away from the mission, and more drawn to the high school drama scene. Jenkos use of sarcasm was clichéd and did not provide that quick laugh the audience

Catch 22 Joseph Heller’s purpose when writing Catch 22 was to bring to light the events and problems of war, but show them through a satirical and almost comedic point of view. The author wants to show the readers how war truly is, and how the soldiers and other people involved handle it. He uses satire and irony to talk about such deep subjects so the book doesn’t get too dark. The author’s thesis is that wars can corrupt people and make them do things they wouldn’t usually do, and how the soldiers lives are in hands other than their own. Some characters of the book sell things on the black market, showing how little the people who serve our country make.…

The original Zoolander was released many years ago in 2001. But the movies seems to never go out of style. Ben Stiller's satire continues to be a fan favorite (even though Zoolander 2 slightly jeopardized the brand). As many times as you've watched those epic moments and interactions between Derek and Hansel, there are still many facts you don't know about "Zoolander." So put on that Blue Steel and read on the first part of "15 things you didn't know about Zoolander."…

In today’s society we are introduced to many problems that are always put to the side and is never taken care of because people are so in denial and don’t want to face the truth. In the simpsons intro the writer uses satire( the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people's stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues) to explore the flaws of society through his made up fictional characters. Some issues that I have come to a realization are the fact that parents in this century are not paying enough attention to their children and holding them fully responsible for their own actions. In other words children are doing whatever they please with no care whatsoever in the world because they know that there is no consequences for their actions. This also causes these children and teens to misbehave in class which leads to a distraction that takes away learning from kids whom parents actually send them to school to learn.…

    Street Drugs Satire

Street drugs have always held poor connotations. Anyone who related with them would be immediately recognized as an addict or criminal. That is until opioids and prescription painkillers came around, when your white suburban mom could be just as dependent on a high as your average heroin junkie. I believe if opioids are continually available, other drugs should be legalized, focusing mainly on marijuana. Opioids: legal, completely accessible, and easily prescribed.…

In the United States something as simple as a drug possession charge can get you into serious trouble, with some offenses even marked as felonies. (Controlled Substances Act, 2014) This is a ludicrous idea, drug crimes are usually victimless, restricting drug usage violates basic human rights, and even tobacco and alcohol are legal. In addition to these things, putting drug charges on a person’s criminal record, or sending someone to jail on drug charges pushes more people to a life of crime. For these reasons, I believe that people should not be punished for using drugs.…

In the short story “Everything That Rises Must Converge”, the author Flannery O’Connor uses copious amounts of irony, imagery, and characters in a sort of comedy of errors to hold the reader’s attention and keep him or her interested, while understanding the meaning of the story: the brain creates the inability to detect when they are being hypocritical, or subconsciously exercising prejudice. While O’Connor makes the plot of the story rather simple, the true meaning of the story proves far more complex, dealing with generation-gaps, particularly the inability of the mother, and many other white people, to accept the African-Americans as more than second-class citizens. The characters in the story are invaluable to understanding the meaning.…
