21 Day Challenge
During my 21 day challenge I ate a vegan diet, which is very healthy and helped me lose weight, appreciate the nutrition in foods, and change my usual diet. My vegan diet only included plant based products and excluded all animal products. Animal products are very fatty and unhealthy, it would be better to get your proteins and antioxidants straight from the earth through organic grains and vegetables. deciding what to do for my 21 day challenge i had to do the hardest thing i could think of and since i love food going vegan was perfect. It was hard in the beginning and my body wasn't used to it so i got dizzy and tired and felt light-headed, but once i knew what i needed to eat to keep a healthy diet then my body was working with even more energy than it was before.

My waist before was just straight with no curves, now i have a slight curve in my waist giving me a thin hourglass shape. The biggest effect it had on my body was my torso area even though i didn't work out or change any of my normal physical activities I ended up with abs and a perfectly flat stomach. I discovered that food has a huge effect on your body. Everyone has heard about one fad diet or another. The Paleo Diet, you only eat what cavemen ate, the Atkins Diet, you eat only meat and avoid those sinful carbs, and the Juice Diet, you guessed it you only drink juice, to name just a few. The one thing that these diets have in common as that they have a goal which is to lose weight. On the other hand the Vegan Diet is not only a way of eating but a way of life, which is what makes it so damaging and isolates those from their omnivore peers. Living the Vegan lifestyle means that you completely forgo any meat, or food produced by animals which include milk, cheese, and eggs.…

“Approximately six to eight million adults in the United States eat no meat, fish or poultry… several million more have eliminated red meat but still eat chicken or fish…about two million have become vegans, forgoing not only animal flesh but also animal-based products such as milk, cheese, eggs, and gelatin” (“Becoming a Vegetarian”). Traditionally, research concerning vegetarianism strictly focused on nutritional deficiencies, but in recent years, studies are confirming and promoting meat-free diets. Nowadays, plant-based eating is well known as a way to reduce the risk for chronic illness and other health issues. Putting this in prospective, “In one of the largest studies with 76,000 participants concluded that vegetarians were, on average, 25% less likely to die of heart disease” (“Becoming a Vegetarian”). This is due to the high amounts of cholesterol and saturated fat in meat and animal products.…

They may not provide the same amount of nutrients that animal food does, but are sufficient enough to not lead to any major health issues like those reported in the article. The article claims “vegetarians are two to three times more likely than meat eaters to suffer from depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and somatoform disorders and syndromes” (Araki), and cites this information from research done by Austrian researchers at the Medical University of Graz. Further analysis of the study shows that the researchers mentioned another cause for the increased number of health issues in vegetarians. To quote, “Our results have shown that vegetarians report chronic conditions and poorer subjective health more frequently. This might indicate that the vegetarians in our study consume this form of diet as a consequence of their disorders, since a vegetarian diet is often recommended as a method to manage weight and health”…
