Americans are growing older, living longer and more likely to have health concerns. These realities are the driving demand for health care workers who specialize in caring for older patients. As the baby boomers age (those born between 1946 and 1964), career opportunities will grow for geriatric health workers (cite). By 2030, more than “one-fifth of Americans – 70 million individuals – will be over the age 65. Due to the projected increase in the number of older Americans, it is estimated that approximately 30,000 geriatricians will be needed by 2030. To meet this need, training of approximately 1,200 geriatricians per year over the next 20 years will be required (cite). There is currently a shortage in the field of geriatrics. In 2014, there
