The 2016 presidential election was one life experience that has allowed me to develop respect for diversity. Being at an institution for undergrad that had a very distinct way of celebrating diversity, the election was a very good example of being respectful of how certain cultures believed that some of the behavior or words of the candidates where okay to say. In addition, the WorldFest event that my alma matter’s diversity club would celebrate every year allowed us to be respectful of diversity because there were so many different types individuals, foods and activities at the event. It really brought to my attention that just because someone eats a certain food, or has a certain tradition that’s different from the social norm here in America,
