They start their search for the creature, but they are not able to find it. Few days later though, they see light coming from the bottom of the ocean. Thinking that light is from the creature’s body, Ned Land tries to harpoon it, but he fails as the harpoon bounces of the creature’s body. The creature attacks the ship and damages the ship severely. Because of that, Arronax, Conseil, and Ned Land are thrown overboard, and they become unconscious. A few hours later, they find themselves on top of the creature which is actually a submarine. They are caught by the people inside the submarine and are locked in a room for a long time. Nemo, the captain of the submarine, introduces himself very politely as and serves them a hot meal. He talks about his promise to live in the sea for his entire life. He treats them with utmost hospitality and tells them that they can enjoy all the freedom as long as they don’t leave the submarine. They agree with the captain’s demand and start exploring the ship. As days go by, Captain Nemo takes them to different underwater adventures. They even manage to put a flag on the South Pole.
