While most people understand the general dangers of drunk driving, education would provide answers to the questions surrounding the issue. High school and college students are exposed to drinking yet there are no drunk driving prevention course requirements. Emphasis should be placed on the decision making process prior to drinking. The decision to not drink and drive should be made before you arrive at a party, club, or bar. Establishing a formal education system for alternatives to driving under the influence would substantially decrease drunk driving.
Currently no licenses or certifications are required for bartenders. Requiring bartenders to receive an alcohol license in order to serve would increase compliance with state laws and provide accountability for bartenders who serve to underage people. Obtaining a license would require training to identify fake IDs and identifying people who are intoxicated. Breathalyzers should be required at establishments that serve alcohol so customers can determine if they are legally intoxicated.
