4.2.3 Assess how own attitudes, values and behaviour could impact on work with children.

I always thought that working with children and being in their world is easy but when I started my TA course and my placement in a primary school I noticed that is not much easy.

My placement is in Upper Horfield Primary School and in the first week of my training I was looking for any other staff from different countries but I couldn’t find any except one lady who was from Africa and woks in the kitchen. I asked from myself this country is multi cultural, so why isn’t there any foreigner? To be honest after a few weeks I lost my interest about work in the child’s world.

When I am in this room with them nobody like to talk to me and they look me in a weird way. I don’t want to be rude but some of them are so selfish and unfriendly and I don’t like them because I don’t want to grab their job or their wages, I just want to learn and use their experience, that’s all.
Also, sometimes my teacher speaks to with a loud voice that I am so busy and I don’t have time for you or if you have question ask me after half past three and these thing makes me sad. For example, one day I spoke to my class teacher about my county’s education system and schools, she laughed and said: this is ridiculous that all pupils should be responsible for their stuffs and she wanted to make me understand that look now you are in England and our country provides you the best facilities.

In addition, sometimes I have to stay with children in lunch time and I hate when I see them eat pork or ham. (God forgive me for saying that) and sometimes some of students are so smelly and I don’t want to be near them or sit next to
