Choose One: Power Happines Freedom For all of history there has existed the struggle between the strong and the weak. The establishment of government gives the power to a particular group to decide the amount of freedom the majority is allowed, however, though not ideal it provides necessary order. The benefits of security that limitations on freedom provides must be balanced with the individual's pursuit of happiness for citizens to be content. Today 's world has many similarities with Oceania, a society portrayed in 1984, in the aspect of control over citizen, changes in language, and perpetual cause of fear. Telescreen and memory hole, which are being employed by the government to monitor citizens and conceal information, are similar to wiretapping by government agencies and media censorship. Our government’s capability to control us is underestimated and should be more carefully observed. The information of our daily activities and transactions are constantly being monitored similarly to 1984. Our privacy is being infringed upon by our government.
