Since the beginnings of civilizations, mankind has tried to predict its future. Although it is impossible to know our fate, the direction that civilization has been heading with new technologies and large governments is alarming to some. Alarming enough for media such as the recently released movie, The Circle or the classic novel, 1984, has been produced as a warning of the future. Both The Circle and 1984 take place in a society in which the rights of the people are infringed. In essence, The Circle could potentially be a prequel to 1984.
