At the start of the 1960s, the end of world war 1 had passed. the calculator, artificial heart, and the first moon landing were all major attributions of the decade. The 1960s yielded many major technological advances from previous years. But with the changes, came dangers. Some of the major events of the 1960s were : JFK to win the presidency, The Peace corps is established, kennedy is assassinated, and man lands on the moon. Many more historical American events were to develop in the mid to late of the century. In the 1960s, many major technological advances were made. One such item is the Apollo 11. The Apollo 11 was the spaceflight that had landed the first humans on the moon. Even though the 60s were a dark time, and tensions ran high against the Russians, the US kept faith that they would be the first on the moon. Since the launch of the sputnik in the 50s, the US has been challenged to win the space race. They had created the Apollo 11. The Apollo 11 moon landing was a huge effect in the American culture and industry. Many automakers had started to make space ships and little action figures for the children, and even before its launch was the release of a game titled “spacewar!”. The economy had been boosted because of the need for these parts of toys, and even greater because of the need for the parts of the spacecraft itself. In fact, the entire span of the 1960s had been just one huge, uninterrupted boost. Another huge effect in the 1960s was the cold war. The cold war wasn't a war perse’ but it was a time of great stress and fear with Russia. With that said, the space launch was somewhat the winning goal in the “space race” with Russia.
