This quote explains how WWII helped make so many medical advancements and discoveries. Not only did it help us in the 1940s, but it’s still helping us today to make advancements in the medical field.

In 1945 it was produced 20 times more than it has ever been (Morrison). It came from fungi, and it was a treatment for many illnesses and infections. It was also used to help treat venereal diseases such as gonorrhea and syphilis (Morrison). In 1934, Streptomycin was produced because of tuberculosis, a deadly disease that infected the lungs. Anesthesia was a medicine produced to use during surgeries so patients wouldn't be in pain (“Best”).
During this time with all the other medicines that were produced for the war, there were also medicines and treatments produced for everyday life. Cortisone was made in 1949, it was a hormone that treated many symptoms. Athletes used it the most to help with their sore muscles. Pathology is a medicine that helped diagnose people if they had cancer or other diseases (“Best”). Birth control was a major advancement during this time as well. It helped give women more freedom and control over their future
