There were 49 countries that contended, and about 100,000 spectators. There were 3,963 athletes, and 129 events! Surprisingly, 150 new buildings were built for the event. When Jesse Owens came up (an African-American), he won 4 golden medals and made 4 records, which made Hitler mad. He refused to congratulate Jesse for what he did. Wait, that was fake. There were a few hoaxes that people actually bought, but were fake (but not the medal and record part, that was real). Most importantly, Berlin, Germany hosted the 1936 Olympics.
Some people ask today, “Where did the torch come from, and when?” Others speculate that the Nazis came up with it, but they were close. At the time of the 1936 Olympics, Cal Diem, the secretary general of the organization committee for the Berlin Games, came up with the torch and ceremony idea. Hitler then took over, to make it used for propaganda. Technically, it was a Nazi invention. But today, the torch relay and ceremony have nothing to do with Hitler in today's Olympics.
Stating a brief summary, the 1936 Olympics was hosted by Hitler, and the most decent thing Hitler ever did while he was chancellor. Some of the most important things that happened were Germany's training, what happened during the Olympics, and where the torch originated. Hopefully, this horrific event will never happen
