On February 6, 1895, in baltimore Maryland, George Hermen Ruth (who would go on to become Babe Ruth later in his baseball career) was born to George and Kate Schaumberger Ruth. Babe was the oldest of two after his other six younger siblings died from illness. These losses did not stop Babe from being a troublemaker. On October 17, 1914, “Babe” George Hermen Ruth married Helen Woodford and they had one daughter together. Her name was Dorothy. In 1929, Helen died in a house fire at their house in Massachusetts. Shortly after Helen’s death Babe married Claire hodgson and adopted her daughter. Babe’s famous hit was game three of the 1932 World Series against the Chicago Cubs. With a tie 4-4 it was up to Babe to break the tie. Some say before he hit the home run he pointed to his new wife saying that hit was going to be for her. Others say he pointed to the center field crowd indicating his hit was going to be a home run. Whatever he did, it was correct and Babe hit a home run that would later help the Yankees win the World
