The 1920’s was known by many different names. The Jazz Age, the Age of Intolerance, the Age of Wonderful Nonsense and the Roaring Twenties. For many, this was also the Age of Freedom because of the 1920’s heroes; Babe Ruth, Henry Ford, and Charles Lindbergh.
George Herman Ruth, known to the world as Babe Ruth, made an enormous impact on the people of the twenties. Ruth was a troublemaker at a young age and his parents could not keep him under control, so they sent him to St. Mary’s where he learned the beautiful game of baseball. Everyone looked up to them and turned to them hoping to receive some kind of peace and enlightenment after all of the terrible hardships and trials they went through during the depression and the war. After Babe Ruth, sports and entertainment stars were celebrated. After Henry Ford and Charles Lindbergh, modern technology completely changed America’s entire landscape. The twenties became a time of laughter, excitement, adventure, and new beginnings. Without the help of these heroes, the world would never have been opened up to such new opportunities. The 1920’s became the time period for the American people to change their ways of living and for their culture to take a dramatic turn that would make such a great impact on the modern world. This great era caused people to dream bigger and turn those dreams into a reality. Anything was possible and everyone started to believe that, if you could dream it, you could do it.
