1911 Fire

Decent Essays
In this picture, firefighters struggle to put out a fire. Objects are collapsing, and some are even being crushed. The floors are completely smothered with ash. This image was photographed by a photographer, to show the world just how destructive this tragic event was. This image was taken on march 25, 1911. If this happened today, this fire would be stopped in an instant because, we have fire trucks, fire hydrants, and we don't have our houses made of easily flammable things anymore

As the stairs collapsed, more than 20 workers were killed. Another workers on the 9th floor escaped through the cargo elevator. The elevator moved up to 20 times, but after that, the elevator's rail was twisted because of the heat, and it became impossible to operate. The Chicago Fire On that devastating day on October 8, 1871, the unspeakable happened, when a fire broke out in a barn, the owners of the barn being the O’Learys, that soon destroyed almost all of Chicago. In this essay, I will be proving the statement “Everything Went Wrong,” out of a book that I read about the Chicago fire, called The Great Fire, by Jim Murphy. Here are some details to prove that during that fire “Everything went wrong.” My first detail to show that “Everything went wrong” on that day is that when the fire was noticed, people were ignoring alarms, AND the wind was picking up. You must be wondering, “Why would anyone ignore alarms?”…

The fire service is more than that “cool place, with the big red truck that makes loud noises and spits water out” The fire service plays a big role in our society to this day. Without the fire service who would put out the fire that you made when you tried to make microwave noodles and forgot to put the water in. The fire service dates to the Rome some 2,000 years ago. They had people roam around the city and sound the alarm if a fire were ever to occur.…

[ IMG] If someone told me they wanted to make a cartoony, firefighting-themed roguelite with a jazz soundtrack, I’d probably think they’re a bit crazy. The small development studio, Laughing Jackal, managed to take these concepts and put them together in a wonderful game called Flame Over. The premise of the game is rather simple. You play as the appropriately-named firefighter, Blaze Carruthers, and run around various buildings trying to put out fires. Needless to say, the main goal is to extinguish all of the fires in the building.…

Researchers and scientists have come together to gather information and make predictions about how the intensity and occurrence of wildfires have increased and how our governments can become better prepared for the future. Climate change is becoming an increasingly dangerous factor as scientists attribute these stronger fires with the effects of climate change. Also, with the high danger that comes along with wildfires, it is pertinent that we examine and analyze all the information we have so we can not only become more prepared for wildfires but also abate the factors and conditions that are causing them. One of the most analyzed questions scientists are trying to answer today is why wildfires are not only more frequent, but also stronger.…
