First, the Invention of the light bulb was one of the most important inventions of all time. The light bulb replaced candles and oil/kerosene lamps and became steady and dependable and particularly important, and much safer than open flames. The light bulb made homes safer and less durable to catch on fire. It also lasted longer than the candles because candle tend to burn after a few uses opposed to light bulbs that could last up to several moths or years. Although many people criticized his try anything approach and wasteful spending, He saved the American system of free enterprise by stepping in and doing something to help the unemployed, starving masses during the Great Depression. Before he was elected the country would have had another lassie faire president meaning the government/president should not get involved in areas such as economic or industries.
