A Michigan music venue, Royal Oak Music Theater, was the first music and comedy venue to start using mobile ticketing. Instead of carrying paper tickets or having to wait in huge lines at the will call window, ticketing bar codes are sent directly to a customer’s smartphone. These barcodes can be scanned at the music theater directly from the customer’s phones. To accommodate these customers using the mobile ticketing, Royal Oak Music Theater set up a special VIP entrance for customers who have mobile tickets. Customers with mobile tickets are also allowed to enter the music theater earlier than those holding traditional tickets as a special incentive for customers to purchase mobile tickets instead of traditional paper tickets
