18-Year Olds Should Be Mandatory Civil Service

Civil Service, the other way that you can serve your country for all the freedoms it has given you, specially in America. Something that should be mandatory for every American after high school is civil service because it teaches people to appreciate the work others do every day, it also teaches Americans to cooperate with other ethnicities. People of other religious beliefs, teaching them tolerance and teamwork, finally it can also teach them important or needed skills like leadership and endurance.
One of the many reasons 18-year olds should have to serve at leas one year in the service is that, they would be able to appreciate the effort that people that have chosen to do those kinds of jobs in the first place. As a result of not having mandatory service Americans just take everything for granted and become indifferent to things around them, there is thousand of people being executed in the Middle East, but almost no Americans do anything. Back when 9/11 occurred Americans we really distraught and it inspired them to join the army nowadays we have less than 500,000 soldier in the army

On the other hand, some may believe that this could rob them away of precious college/career time and put them behind everyone else in college and careers, overall making them more susceptible to failure, however, civil services like the army have many scholarship opportunities and can pay your school debt, making it easier for you to go to college and have more connections when you are done with your one year providing more opportunities for success making it worth the one year in service. Overall, making young Americans join the civil service would be a positive for society and destroy social boundaries between races and help unite people of different ethnicities, also would make it easier for them to go through
