The fourteenth amendment was passed in 1963, which guaranteed legal counsel and legal representation to the defendants of criminal cases if they are not able to afford one. I would like to one day be one of these representatives. When the future arrives, I see myself as a criminal defense attorney in the state I live in at that current time. We have acquired and adapted literacy works from the ancient Greeks and Romans. I have thought of different ways to integrate literature into my career to help the whole process to go as quickly and effectively as possible. After a brief introduction about the case I am representing with my client, I will ask for some sort of background and discuss the consequences or explain exactly how much I may be able to help. I had planned to log every conversation I have with my team and the person, which I am defending. Along with logging conversations, I plan to give the defendant en empty journal where all I ask for them to do is to write in it. I would like for them to write a fictional story, which will somehow relate to what they are going through and what led to their arrest. The journal is supposed to be a safe way for me to communicate with the suspect where they are able to write exactly what they are feeling. It tends to be easier to admit things if one is pretending to tell a story or using an analogy to explain the situation. It seems as if you are telling a story from a “different perspective” making it easier to open up. Furthermore, after observing the differences and similarities with the story and what happened, I will ask them to go into further detail about who what when where and why. Also, I will ask how they decided to resolve the issue in their fictional story.
