I tried my hardest to keep from engaging in useless chatter, but I found myself starting random, irrelevant conversations with people. For example, one day before our chemistry class had started, I began to talk to one of the other students about something that had happened at lunch that day. The conversation continued throughout the rest of the day, until I had realized that the conversation was completely off-topic and not related to any of my classes that day. It was just stupid gossip! Although, two days later, I actually did quite well with cutting down on useless conversations. Most of the day, I kept to myself, only talking to someone if they started the conversation. This is important because I needed this situation to show me that I chatter whenever a situation becomes awkward or stressful, and I really should channel that bad energy into something, instead of saying random things to people. This week’s experience taught me that I am not a very tidy person when it comes to the cleanliness of home. For example, I came home from school one day, and it was a mess. Clothes were thrown everywhere, shoes littered the floor, papers for school were scattered across the desk. I had to instantly clean my room because I felt extremely gross and messy, and I felt like I couldn’t get anything done with my room in that condition. It was hard for me to concentrate on homework when my room was such a mess, and I had finally realized this. For the rest of the week, I tried to keep my room as clean as I could. I did really well after my illumination that connected my bad studying habits to my awfully messy room. Even my parents and my sister noticed that I had been doing better with keeping my room clean. This is important because when I started to take better care of my room, I began to focus better on homework and get things done faster. In the future, I am going to continue cleaning my room on a more frequent
