One of the tapes includes Hannah confessing torments that she faces in her mind to the school guidance counselor. The counselor took her claims lightly and unfortunately missed the chance to safe this girl’s life. Mental illnesses are also just as substantial as physical illnesses. Novels like 13 Reasons Why and Bell Jar depict strongly about mental illnesses and if we could somehow incorporate these kinds of books into the syllabus in schools, instead of keeping it taboo, we could actually prevent several deaths from occurring.
