My friend knows that I am a great fan of Lupita Nyong’o, so she bought me a movie, “12 Years a Slave”, as a birthday gift. I really admire Lupita Nyong’o simply because of her famous emotional Oscar’s acceptance speech. Her words are discernibly recurring in my ears, and what she said is, “When I look down at this golden statue, may it remind me and every little child that no matter where you’re from, your dreams are valid. Thank you.” I can feel that other people will not forget this beautiful speech said by one of the most beautiful women of the world. Also, “12 Years a Slave” is a very influential and dramatic film. In the film, Lupita Nyong’o acted as a black girl, Patsey. The black history of the United States of America is revealed through the film, and the very shameful period of the US history is exposed. A free man named Solomon Northup is a main character. He had a family including his wife, Anne Hampton, and his two children. In 1841, they lived in Saratoga, New York. He earned money through playing fiddle. He got a very happy life together with his family. Before the civil war, two white men lured him to play fiddle in a great party. Then, they kidnapped him and sold him to a slavery market. Consequently, slave traders and his landlords physically and mentally tortured him. As he was a brave and intelligent man, he tried to escape and fought for survival and freedom. Totally, he was kidnapped and forced to work in white’s plantations as a…
