Attending this NA Meeting has enhanced my personal perspective of 12 Step Meetings. Before attending this meeting, I was aware of 12 Step Meetings; however, I did not know what occurred during these meetings. Having gone through this experience, I will be able to empathize more with clients who plans to attend such meetings because I know what takes place during the meetings and some of the possible feelings that can occur before, during and after attendance. I have a better understanding of the difference between spirituality and religion. Likewise, I have a greater understanding of the how spirituality and religion in 12 Step Meetings can cause challenges due to individuals’ view of spirituality and religion in the recovery process.
