Like the other meeting I found this one online. This meeting was much closer than the others; it was located really close to school. I went with a classmate to this meeting. When I got to the location there was three rooms and the main room looked like a restaurant. Like the other meetings, I was nervous before arriving because I noticed that all meetings are different. Furthermore I don’t know what to expect in every meeting. We got to the room where the meeting was held we asked the leader if we could sit in the meeting. In the meeting there were like 30 people in the room including us. This group was largest than the other two meetings we went to. There was a speaker of the day, as he started the meeting everyone started praying the serenity prayer. Like the other meeting certain people were assigned to read one of the steps . After this the speaker started to tell his story. He was explaining that he was one of the nine brothers and sisters in the family. Also stated that his brothers had an alcohol problem and lost his older brother to this addiction. Today he is sober, because he hit rock bottom when he committed suicide. He had the means to kill himself and it was by overdosing himself. After he tired to overdose he lost thought and woke up in a hospital. While he was in the hospital he felt the support of his sponsor that when to visit him, his sponsor was the only visitor he received. After that he realized that the 12-step meetings where worth his time. It was shocking to me to hear his story and the deaths and depression he went through with this addiction. One young man named Jose received a metal for 18 months being sober. He decided to share his story; he started to drink at a very young age in family parties. As he grew up his drinking started to get worse and worse. He decided that by joining the army, he would be forced to stop drinking and he did because he didn’t have
