First, off juror 3 is very persistent and always want to get their point across. An example of this is when he says,“Look you can forget all that other stuff. He still came home to dig out the knife and get rid of it.”(Rose 67) This shows that even though the jurors have moved onto other points in their discussion he still wants to come back to the point he made earlier that he feels is essential to the case. And on that note …show more content…
By that I mean juror 3 believed that the boy was guilty and juror 8 thought he was innocent, so they both spent their time trying to convince everyone that he was guilty. In the end he did not succeed, but he did make quite a few people turn to his side at various points in the play showing that he had a big influence on the other characters in the play. Something that made people switch to his view was how he wa not afraid to speak his mind, and that helped him get people to switch to his side because he was not afraid to tell everyone the truth he did not sugar coat anything which made people believe and trust him. An example of this is when he says,“Brother, you’re really something! You come in here here and you vote guilty like everybody else, and then this golden-voiced preacher over here starts to tear your heart out with stories about a poor little kid who just couldn’t help becoming a murder. So you change your vote. If that isn’t the most sickening… Why don’tcha drop a quarter in his collection box.”(Rose 26-27) That shows that juror 3 has absolutely no filter, and if he feels like you did something wrong then he is going to call you out on it. It might not be the most persuasive, but he will make sure you get the point and understand what he is trying to say whether it is nice or not.
In conclusion, juror 3 and he played a very notable and important role in the play because he never gave up his points, he made some surprising choices, and played a big part in the other characters actions. Imagining the play without juror 3 would be very hard to do because if there was no juror 3 in this play it would have been about 10 pages
